Safari to Bagamoyo and Saadani National Park |

Formerly, a Game Reserve, Saadani has recently undergone the transition to National Park status. It has the unique distinction of being East Africa's only coastal wildlife sanctuary, providing the opportunity to observe Africa's big game and bird life interacting with the sea. It is the one place where elephants can be seen bathing in the Indian ocean. The park is located only 130 kms north of Dar es salaam, 54 kms. North of the historical town of Bagamoyo and just 38 kms. from Zanzibar. The park has a wide range of habitats including mangrove swamps, coastal thickets and acacia woodland, and a diverse population of mammals and birds. Of the big five, lion, leopard, elephant and buffaloes are present. The southern boundary is marked by the Wami River which attracts fabulous bird life, large pod of hippos, massive crocodiles and the spectacular black and white colobus monkey. 2 Days / 1 Night Day 1: After breakfast in Dar es Salaam transfer to Bagamoyo. After arrival start visit the various historical an cultural sites in the area. Lunch at a hotel in Bagamoyo. Afternoon continue with cultural and historical tour. Evening time leave Bagamoyo for Saadani National park. Dinner and overnight at a hotel / campsite in Saadani National Park. |

Day 2: After breakfast morning game drive in the park. Lunch at a hotel (e.g. Saadani Safari Lodge) / campsite. Continue afternoon game drive in the park. Late afternoon drive back to Dar es Salaam. End of the tour. 3 Days / 2 Nights Day 1: After breakfast, transfer to Bagamoyo from Dar es salaam, lunch at a hotel in Bagamoyo e.g Paradise Holiday Resort, afternoon tour of the historical /cultural sites at Bagamoyo, evening drive to Saadani National Park. Dinner and overnight at Saadani Safari Lodge / Campsite. Day 2: Aftrer breakfast, morning game drive in the park, lunch at Saadani Safari Lodge / campsite, afternoon boat safari on Wami River. Dinner and overnight at Saadani Safari Lodge / campsite. Day 3: After breakfast, morning walking safari in the park, lunch at Saadani Safari Lodge / campsite, late afternoon drive back to Dar es salaam. (OR ALTERNATIVE) Day 1: After breakfast, leave Dar es Salaam for Saadani, lunch at the lodge / campsite, afternoon game drive in the park. Dinner and overnight at the lodge / campsite. Day 2: After breakfast, morning walking safari in the park. Lunch at the lodge / campsite, afternoon boast safari on Wami River. Dinner and overnight at Saadani Safari Lodge / campsite. Day 3: After breakfast, a cultural visit to one of the oldest Swahili villages in East Africa, lunch at Saadani Safari Lodge / campsite, afternoon drive to Bagamoyo for cultural / historical sites tour. Evening drive back to Dar es salaam. End of the tour. |
